Weekly Jobless Claims 440,000, down 43,000.
Feb.6 The Department of Labor has released the initial claims in the week ending Feb.6 and the continued claims ending Jan.30 (there is a delay of one week between both series).
Initial Jobless Claims: The advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 440,000, a decrease of 43,000 claims from the previous week’s revised figure of 483,000 revised from the initial 480,000 data.
4 week Moving Average: The 4-week initial jobless claims moving average, used to smooth out the weekly volatile data, was 468,250, a decrease of 1,500 claims from the previous week’s average of 469,750.
Continued Claims (s.a.): The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment (continued claims) during the week ending Jan.30 was 4,538,000, a decrease of 79,000 claims from the previous week’s level of 4,617,000. The 4-week continued claims moving average was 4,603,500, a decrease of 19,750 claims from the preceding week’s average of 4,623,250.
